This week we are focusing how to create your very own Air Plant Mini World and just how much fun it can be! You don't need to be an artist, you don't need to have years of experience, you just need an imagination and a love of airplants!

Creating your very own Airplant Mini World is an exciting and creative way to express your own style and flair. You can create a multitude of biomes to suit your hearts desire and your own imagination brings the power of endless possibilty to this most enjoyable experience. Whether you are a Starwars addict or a Forest Fairy fan, creating a biome can provide a perfect opportunity to invent a world in miniature.

Creating your preferred biome doesnt need to cost the earth either. Miniature worlds can be created with as much or as little decorative content as you can afford. Gravels and mosses are inexpensive and depending upon the size and shape of your mini world, you can keep costs down by using only small amounts. For more elaborate biomes, using multiple textures, shapes and colours can all add depth and visual interest.

If you wish to create a mini world which compliments your existing decor, you have the option of using materials which contrast and compliment your space. Artificial or dried flowers, seed pods, shells and coloured sands can all add to the aesthetic and you can combine different hues and tones together to elevate appeal.

Adding miniature characters, buildings or animals to your biome can also help to bring a sense of animation to your design. Don't forget when creating an environment for your characters or scene, to think about things like seasons. Creating seasonal environments can be a huge amount of fun as well as lending to the atmospheric element of your design.

The most important element of your terrarium design will of course be the airplants themselves. Choosing plants for their colour, form, and size will all play a key role in how your mini world will look when complete. Opt for Tillandsia that have greener or brown tones for woodland and forest biomes or silvery-white plants to create winter scenes. Remember, your airplants will often change colour when they are about to produce blooms or offsets, so keep this in mind when making your selection. Many Tillandsia produce striking flowers, they can appear in a vast array of colours from deep blues and purples, striking reds and some have yellow or white flowers. Some tillandsia have flower bracts that can be long, so account for this extra growth when putting your mini world together and consider that you may need to switch out these blooming airplants for a while with other non-blooming ones.

Lastly, when considering the design of your mini world, remember to consider how you will water your airplants. Creating your preferred biome is super exhilarating and it can be easy to get carried away in the moment. Keeping in mind how easy it will be to ensure the needs of your airplants are met and how easily you can access them amongst the features of your mini world, will not only be beneficial to your plants health but will also keep your creation looking at its best for a long time to come.
